Chip card

Your chip card remains an important companion: You can use it to make cashless payments at all Studierendenwerk Mannheim facilities.
Depending on your university, you can use your student or staff ID card (ecUM, HSCard, or CampusCard). You can also use the MensA-card for payments.

Two payment options – two balances

App and card payments work independently of each other. This means that your app balance and your card balance are separate.
When you add funds to your app, the balance on your chip card remains unchanged – and vice versa. Autoload is also set up and managed separately for the app and the chip card.

Exception: Coffeeload®

Coffeeload® works with both the chip card and the StudiPlus²® App. Once you have linked your chip card to the app, all your collected Coffeeload® stamps are displayed centrally in the app – regardless of whether you pay with your chip card or the app.

Where can I pay and how?

App payments are initially being introduced as part of a pilot phase on the University and DHBW Mannheim campuses.

Look for this symbol: It shows you which registers and machines accept app payments. You can continue to use your chip card at all Studierendenwerk Mannheim facilities.

And there’s more to come: Once the pilot phase has been successfully completed, app payments will gradually be rolled out to dining halls and cafeterias at other universities, as well as to the laundry terminals in the student residences.
